Convocation 2012. sang the US national athem. the New school song that I’ve never heard. Chatted with and took photo with President Hockfield. Gathered at Killian Court. I got a sudden strange feeling..4 years later the same thing will happen at my graduation….but i really doubt that If I could graduate successfully AND on-time.. /__\ anyway, under the strong Boston’s sun, I almost melted away…@_@ So that’s my second Sunday, it’s just 1:43pm..but im extremely sleepy now..see what I’ll do later in the day!

haha learnt a lot of 台語 today from my taiwanese classmates, then went to the kick-off ceremony of the orientation, then went for party in Baker and East Campus, both r very special, and esp EC one was seriously freaking me out…-_- then went to Next House have a walk

HEYYY but im really happy to find now my mandarin is very good XDDD and keep h earing ppl saying “wow ur english accent is amazing, hv u studied in the US?” (flattered mode)

well, maybe i should stop photo-blogging. as Im one of the fews who would take photos around, people will reply in reflex ‘please tag me in facebook!’..so, to save time, I will just upload to facebook from now on..ALRIGHT i dun care about my damn hairstyle right now @_@

today Saturday is busier than i’ve expected. Got Free BBQ (again) at Baker’s House, met ChenTong finally, then took Math Diagnostics Test from 3-5pm. Its the very first time (of the many times coming) to take test here.

Frankly my maths sucks so I won’t say its particularly easy. But indeed I was a bit overwhelmed to see a test paper with header “Massachusetts Institute of Technology” I was like, wow..so im doin sth more advanced :p

anyway..after that, met a no. of new friends, went for French House and Senior House for BBQ dinner (a bit fed up already haha), then went for West Fiesta party!! met even more new friends whose names I’ve already forgotten!..then went for Bexley Hall exploration, Simmons Hall Ball pit war with Heng Sam and Mengjie, THEN FINALLY THE ORANGE TOUR !! AND YOU KNOW WHAT? we were like the very last 4 groups…there r no tour guides left so we can’t go on the trip…….so im sitting here now sadly uploading photos, writing my blog, and struggling to tidy up my desk first or go for shower first.

Another thing is, I found my mind-channel is more readily tuned to English / Mandarin. but im pretty sure i won’t lose my Cantonese, its impossible.

P.P.S. im flattered that when ppl said ‘wow ur english is pretty good’ after claiming im an int student from china..hahahaha :p for thrice..XD

P.P.P.S. i mean, there r always so kind of personalities i would really go 燥底 with. instead of hoping for any changes for those specific individuals, fi0ni, remind urself to avoid hving conflicts with them.

U.S. News ranks MIT 4th overall among U.S. universities

MIT ranks fourth among national universities and first in undergraduate engineering, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings released today.

In the overall university rankings, MIT shares the number four slot with Stanford. Harvard, Princeton and Yale, respectively, are ranked the top three schools.

MIT has held the top spot in the magazine’s overall undergraduate engineering rankings for more than twenty years. Specialized engineering disciplines at MIT that U.S. News also ranked as the nation’s best this year include aeronautics and astronautics, chemical, electrical and computer science, and mechanical. MIT’s rankings in biomedical and environmental engineering also increased.

The MIT Sloan School of Management’s undergraduate business program ranked overall as the nation’s second best, unchanged from last year. MIT also took top honors for its undergraduate business specialties in production and operations management, management information systems, quantitative analysis, and supply chain management.

The U.S. News ranking formula gives greatest weight to the opinions of those in a position to judge a school’s undergraduate academic excellence. The peer assessment survey allows presidents, provosts, and deans of admissions to account for intangibles such as faculty dedication to teaching.

Ranked by its peer universities in this category, MIT shared top and equal standing with Harvard and Stanford.

Among other key criteria for judging schools is selectivity as gauged by acceptance rate (MIT tied for second) and financial resources (MIT was ranked third).

The magazine rated MIT among the top 10 most racially diverse universities in America. The Institute also tied for fourth as the nation’s most economically diverse university, as determined by the percentage of students receiving Pell grants.

Finally, the report judged an MIT education to be a great value. MIT ranked fourth among national universities in a measure of price relative to quality; last year, the Institute ranked fifth.

In March, MIT announced increases in financial aid that will make it possible for a larger fraction of MIT students to have their tuition and fees completely covered. Under the new plan, which takes effect in the 2008-2009 academic year, families earning less than $75,000 a year will have all tuition covered.

maybe today is a implication of my future life.. getting take away to my dorm
and indulged into solitude, which I used to do in LPC.

just because , 5 days of INTENSE SOCIALING is too tiring for me..
and i have a running nose already….in this ‘warmest’ weather in Boston -_-
time to get some work ..(after my nap!)
