快樂廢中青

開始了從4月1日到5月18日的無薪假期(sabbatical leave)。
這一次,我沒有設定任何目標。
純粹是為那勒到透不過氣的人生,按下一個暫停pause鍵。

我不知道自己還有多少luxury,可以再享受一次這樣的「突然停下」。

但能不拿薪水就這樣停下來——簡直是短暫的退休——說真的,實在很舒服。

我真的很不喜歡上班。無論做什麼樣的工作,我都不喜歡。

回到上海之後,惡夢和盜汗立刻回來了。

Die With Zero速讀總結

  • Overly delayed gratification? How to allocate your life energy accordingly.
  • 有意識地live your life purposefully and deliberately, instead of autopilot mode, instead of the “expected” default path. It is by aiming to die with zero.
  • “Honorary billionaire” – spend like one!
  • Spend money on positive experience instead of things.
  • Things that can yield ongoing long-lasting memory dividends for the rest of your life.
  • Life is a sum of experienced, you retire on your memories.
  • Life experience points + memory dividend points. Very high rate of return, so start early!
  • Whole point in earning money is to able to spend it for the experience that make your life.
  • Aim to spend all the money before your die -> no waste of life energy forgone.
  • Don’t save too much for too late in your life. What are your waiting for?
  • Retirement –> go-go year, slow-go year, no-go year.
  • How about “precautionary spending”? Rather die. See you at the grave!
  • Use it in healthcare money and long-term care insurance -> annuities.
  • Save less and spend more, but not auto-save and auto-spend. Not only blinding for a more expensive option.
  • Any “now or never“? We are aging with declining health.
  • Maximize utility / usefulness of money now.
  • Health, free time, money. Go for time-saving services (e.g. laundry), delegate for outside services.
  • Different versions of you with “die” along the way, college you, teenage you. Mini-deaths and time is limited.
  • Overly delayed gratification, but window of opportunities will close!
  • “Courage to live a life true to themselves, instead of what is expected”
  • “I wish I had not worked so hard”
  • Calculate annual survival cost in retirement
  • The business of life is the acquisition of memories. What are you waiting for?

美國之旅 Top moments 2026

  • Stephen Colbert被告知 “you two, first row.” 他跑出來時心裡面難以自信的激動。It’s magical!!畢生難忘。
  • 回到MIT拿alumni card、在One.MIT牆上找到自己的名字。也去了新的Banana Lounge, 重新裝修的Student Center。有舊也有新。
  • 911 museum的震撼和極度沈重。
  • 成功和Siemens CEO合照和聊天,打卡成功。
  • 很多難得的”公司” tour,包括NBC, Google, UN。買了很多值得紀念的禮物給自己。
  • 14年後回到紐約,發現很多新事物。Little Island, JPMC Headquarter, Hudson Yards, 911 and Oculus. 更去了哈林區。
  • 總共見了8位朋友。3位LPC、2位MIT、2位小紅書、1位新認識的Google朋友。
  • 天氣非常好,每天15,000+步的大暴走!

飛機上諗到嘅points:

  • 原來JFK/BOS來回香港嘅飛機,因為飛北極,所以好長時間都冇wifi,有乘客會ask for refund
  • Manhattan嘅街道係真係messy,而且都有多homeless,but少d 癲人或drug dealers(比西雅圖好好多)。因為NYPD同警車真係周圍都有!
  • 原來Premium Econ都有free wifi嘻嘻
  • 最後d 美金cash都冇咩用到。 因為都係look張hsbc debit card都已經ok。
  • 周圍不停都見到The Devil Wears Prada 2嘅廣告
  • 第一次去旅行冇戴耳機,因為耳仔成日塞。
  • 美國周圍d wifi都超級快。
  • 如果可以留多一日,或許可以去Central Park, Edge New York, 食多d 特別野。
  • 好多野其實都可以買,不過都係冇買。因為太貴。
  • 回程時我隔離個菲律賓女人話,可唔可以讓個window seat比佢。佢都痴線。
