入不敷支

  • what’s great about MIT is that….u gotta meet Robert Solow after studying the Solow’s model….or Noam Chomsky after studying about his syntactic theory…or being asked in an exam about our lecturer’s Nobel chemistry discovery…or studying textbooks that were written by ur academic advisor…or gotta see MIT affiliates receiving the Nobel prize 3 years in a row in ur 3-year-MIT-career… such a superior academic setting. blessed!
  • In one day —“US to step up pressure on china over its exchange rate policy..”, “Gates to press china on military ties..”, “Pressure mounts on China to free Nobel winner”…now it makes sense why wen jiabao is selected on Time’s cover…
  • how to translate these words into English? 人情味／世故、縁分，孝順(not just respect .. Not exactly obedience..)
  • ppl can tell from my mandarin that I’m from Guangdong..but when I said I’m from hk they will be surprised, should I feel happy about it?? Haha
  • went to gryphon’s pub and the wicked wolf tavern (They played like a g6!)…. going to cruise party again tonight in a month. Errr gin tonic, x on the beach, rum and coke, raspberry martini..
  • was made to sing 年年有今日 on the way back….haha…
  • the number of applicants is positively correlated with  the $$ of externship…correlation =/= causation?!
  • sometimes i prefer weekdays more… coz nothing ‘tangibly meaningful’/productive is happening on weekends..
  • sick of over-opinionated/over-judgmental ppl….but would it make me a over-judgmental person too to judge them??
  • someone said i get easily offended/ p!ssed …well just that my life is busy enough…no more room for sarcasm thx
  • an HBS MBA girl from china was sitting next to me on the bus….very interesting. coz she looks younger than me (seriously @@) but once she started to speak..you knew she is 不簡單! i hope one day i could possess such charm too :/

Liberated – 可能是最無聊的一篇

(0a) 每次經過mit dome 都會目不轉睛，然後不寒而慄。

(1) Desktop 與 desktop 同樣so messy

(2) 臉上的豆豆就來多到可以玩連線遊戲 Connect the Dots!。

(3) chinatown很反智。自從上次有人問我上海是否國家後，這次有人說“2009年後，是2020咯”

(4) 選人的確有一個determining factor。以下這些話也聽過不下5，6遍 :“你符合我所有的條件，可惜你是。。／可惜你不是。。。／可惜你不夠。。“ 而我的determing factor 就是。。！！！

(5) Galleria is my US Sunshine! 今天一個美甲人想過來跟我推銷，但看見我的指甲後，他hesitated了，哈哈哈。

(6) professor寄來的email subject 是  “Paper & quizzes” 第一秒竟然看作為 Pizza 了 XD (誤）

（7） 看見nobel prize 的新聞會有想哭的衝動。

(8) 這星期的重頭戲當然就是academic life，超級chur。到底我以前兩年都在幹嘛的？！上學應該要有這種intenseness@_@ 就不要提monday的midterm，wednesday的midterm and wednesday的case study。就只說一下今天。

（8）8pm-4am (8 hours, straight)：Linguistics essay -compare syntactic analysis  of jap / romanian , 沒有開音樂，沒有吃零食，就一直做一直做。like my friend said “writing is like childbirth…slow and painful” 竟然不停畫錯syntax tree，明明只要畫3個，卻前前後後construct了15個＝＿＝  悲涼。

(9) 4-7am (3 hours): R statistical programming pset
超勁，我寫都沒有寫過R, deadline 前12個小時才第一次download R XDD syntax甚麼的超花時間

(10) 7:30-10:30 (sleep)

(11) 10:30 – 1: 00pm : (2.5 hours) 1806 linear algebra pset
又畫tree，不過是network tree XD  我是畫樹王 （誤）

所以呢個故事教訓我們，做事要有efficiency同好的time management以外，
就不要等到要交功課才revise from scratch，要不然就很花時間的喔！！！
anyway, it’s time to embrace long weekend =DD
