The last few slides of lectures are always about how models or textbook examples taught in the beginning are no longer applicable in the 21st century. Traditional airline RM model failed coz of fare structure simplification by low-cost carriers. Swap spread turns negative first time in history after Lehman collapse. Treasury rate is no longer ‘risk-free’. Professors’ trading strategies through speculative hedge funds always failed miserably at last…etc..etc….assumptions are even more vulnerable now given how quick the world is moving forward.
